The state-recognized health resort Werdum is located 4 km in a straight line from the dike and the North Sea as a green oasis amidst East Frisian expanse. Werdum is a small and cozy village that invites its guests to enjoy peace and relaxation away from the tourist hustle and bustle of the seaside resorts, especially in all seasons.
There is everything you need: a lot of events (more than 100 in summer alone), "House of the Guest", spa facilities, the "Rasender Kalle" miniature train, guest bowling, and bicycle tours with barbecues, wagon rides, horseback riding for the disabled, gastronomy, coastal brewery, and much more.
The petting zoo is especially popular, where children get to know many rare pet species up close and are allowed to pet them.
Werdum is an old, naturally grown warf village, whose history dates back to around the year 1300, and it has historical and landscape-typical architecture such as the chieftain's castle, the Dutch windmill from 1748, the St. Nicolai Church, or a blacksmith from old times.
The North Sea spa Neuharlingersiel - very close by - is a 300-year-old fishing village with an active crab cutter fleet. In the beautiful historic fishing port, East Frisian fishing is still actively practiced by many crab cutters today.
