In the small and charming North Sea spa town of Neuharlingersiel, our house with the two beautiful, comfortable, and lovingly designed vacation apartments stands. We have named the house “Jan van Gent”. That is the name of our crab fishing boat, one of the 14 crab fishing boats that still set out from the historic Neuharlingersiel harbor for fishing in a traditional way today. “Jan van Gent” is the fishermen's name for the seabird “Gannet”, after this nickname, our boat was named (photos of our boat can be found on these websites, for example, top right here on this page).
Besides our great and somewhat unusual profession, which offers you the opportunity to take a closer look at a fishing boat, we also have a great hobby: Western riding. Maybe you will come with us to Boisenhausen, where we pursue this hobby.
All tourist attractions are only a few minutes' walk from the house "Jan van Gent". The house is located in a very quiet side street in a preferred residential area on the edge of Neuharlingersiel. The North Sea spa town of Neuharlingersiel is located directly on the unique natural spectacle "Lower Saxon Wadden Sea National Park", since 2009 a "UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site".
Your short walk to the harbor, to the beach facilities, and to the spa and information center with the seawater indoor pool and many entertainment options leads past the tranquil "Neuharlingersieler Tief" (What is a "Tief"? Want to know more? Click here on this sentence!). "Tranquil" is your walk in the best sense of the word, because it is a very nice walking path that takes you without traffic through the spa park and along the picturesque "Sielhof". Now you cross the front garden of the "Sielhof" and are already at the harbor or, with a small detour to the northwest, at the beach.
The North Sea spa town of Neuharlingersiel is a 300-year-old fishing village with an active crab fishing fleet. In the beautiful historic fishing harbor, the East Frisian fishery is still actively lived by many crab fishing boats today.
